Former Auburn Coordinator Breaks Down Bama’s Defense

Alabama DefenseHere is the Cow School’s (Auburn for you non-Bama Fans) former coordinator, Gus Malzahn, breaking down how he attacked Alabama’s defense. To tell you the truth, he did the best job out of anyone that Bama played in the 2009 and 2010 seasons. In the ’09 version of the Iron Bowl, he pulled out some plays that left me dumbfounded. I mean no one scored long touchdowns against Bama’s D in ’09. One of the more illuminating statements, Gus Malzahn makes is, ‘you have to hit them with big plays’, which means that he knew that he could rely on moving the ball down the field. He knew that Auburn needed to try to burn Alabama deep to win the game. Gus also gives nice props to the Bama D by saying it was the best defense that he had faced in his 6 years as a coordinator. Happy trails Gus, I am glad that we don’t have to face your crazy offense anymore.
